The Architecture of Domestic Support Structures in Southern MarylandIn FY18, MHT awarded a Historic Preservation Non-Capital Grant to St. Mary’s College of Maryland to study historic outbuildings used for everyday domestic activities. The project documented sites in Calvert, Charles, Prince George’s, and St. Mary’s counties.

Asian American Historical and Cultural Context of Montgomery CountyIn FY20, the URC Grant Program funded MHT to document Asian American communities in Maryland, focusing on Baltimore City and the Washington, DC suburbs. The project included a National Register nomination for Baltimore’s Chinatown.

Architectural Survey on Smith IslandWith funding from a Historic Preservation Non-Capital Grant, MHT supported the Somerset County Historical Trust in surveying at-risk historic properties on Maryland’s Lower Eastern Shore, including Smith Island.

Maryland's Education History & Architecture: A Context StudyIn FY19, a Historic Preservation Non-Capital Grant supported MHT and its partner Preservation Maryland in studying historic school buildings across Maryland. The project identified common architectural styles and features to support evaluation.
Recent listing on the National Register
The Pomonkey Historic District was recently added to the National Register of Historic Places! Located in Charles County, the district recognizes the history and legacy of a predominantly African American community that developed after the Civil War and continued through the late 20th century.
The Rugged Road to Revolution
Reconstructing the revolution-era cultural landscapes of military encampments from General Rochambeau's march to Yorktown.
Engaging With Descendant African American Communities
A project to identify the families or communities connected to the remains of at least 15 people of African descent currently being cared for at the MAC Lab.
